Mary Grace Chandler Hansen passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 56 years, Greg; son, Peter (Nurcin) of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; daughter, Monica (Dan) of Omaha; and six beloved grandchildren.
Grace was born on May 27, 1949, in South Omaha to John and Mary Chandler. She grew up in a warm, faith-filled home and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School before graduating from Notre Dame Academy, where she formed lifelong friendships. Even as a young girl, Grace was known for her infectious laughter and quick wit—qualities that would remain with her throughout her life.
She went on to attend Omaha University, where a chance meeting in the library would change her life forever. That day, she met Greg. For Greg, it was Grace’s radiant blue eyes; for Grace, it was something she couldn’t quite look away from. They were engaged within a year and married on June 14, 1969, at St. Mary’s Church.
They made their home on a hill with a beautiful view—a place that became the heart of their family life, filled with laughter, memories, and love. Their son Peter arrived soon after, followed four years later by daughter Monica. With Greg’s summers free from teaching, the family took the opportunity to travel—exploring the country from Washington, D.C., to Ocean Beach, Maryland, to Holden Beach, North Carolina, and even seeing Pope John Paul II in Des Moines.
Grace wore many hats over the years—school bus driver, candy salesperson at Younkers, and skilled medical transcriptionist at Clarkson Hospital—but her most cherished role was as a mother and grandmother. Her family was her life’s greatest joy and purpose.
Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was deeply involved in the Catholic Charismatic movement, the Legion of Mary, Bellwether Intercessors of the Lamb, CCD education, and the Impact program. She had a special spiritual bond with Mother Nadine Brown, founder of the Intercessors of the Lamb, who was not only a guide but a dear friend.
Grace also had a deep love for animals. She led the bunny rescue team for 17 years as part of the Wildlife Rescue Team of Omaha, caring for countless small creatures with the same compassion she showed to people.
As a grandmother, Grace was playful, spirited, and full of mischief—in the best way. She taught her grandchildren how to laugh freely and embrace who they are, always encouraging them to be their truest selves.
Grace was blessed with several deep and enduring friendships. The Henry family—Darien, Allison, and Erik—have been like family. Their son Everett, who preceded Grace in death, was a steadfast and loving friend. Benna and Milton Stanley also stood by Grace and Greg with faithful friendship and support through the years.
She faced incredible challenges with unwavering strength and grace, including surviving breast cancer three times. Even in her final battle with leukemia, she remained courageous and resilient, always determined to spend more time with her family. Her spirit, love, and faith never wavered.
The family wishes to thank the CHI Bergan Infusion Center, the Nebraska Cancer Specialists Team, the St. Croix Hospice Team, and every healthcare professional who treated Grace with such compassion and care.
Mary Grace Chandler Hansen lived a life rooted in faith, filled with laughter, and devoted to love—for her family, her friends, and even the smallest creatures in need. Her spirit will live on in the stories we share, the laughter we echo, and the love we continue to give.

Edward Patrick “Pat” Beecham, Jr., age 83, passed away on June 14, 2025, at Ambassador Health, Omaha, NE. Pat was born on December 19, 1941. He was united in marriage to Betty Long on September 26, 1964, at St. Bridget’s Church, Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara (Brown) Beecham, Sr.; 4 sisters: Jackie Fetzer, Jean Spudich, Bev McCauley and Mary Wallman; 2 brothers: Jim Beecham and Mike Beecham.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; son, Dave (Beth); daughter, Tammy (Denny) Rookstool; brother, Tom (Chris); grandchildren: Noah Rookstool, Madison Beecham and Jake Beecham; brother-in-law, Jim Spudich; sisters-in-law, Louise Beecham and Jenny Beecham; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pat worked at Security Window. He also worked at Leisure Lanes for several years part-time, setting pins. He bowled there a lot and had several 200 or more games. Then he moved to the Safeway milk plant for about 17 years. When Safeway closed, he decided to start his own carpet cleaning business. He called it Pat’s Carpet and did that for about 15 years. He made a lot of great friends along the way.
During this time, he made some wonderful friends at a coffee klatch over at Hy-Vee on 90th & Center. They all met around 7 :00AM and just visited for an hour and went on their way. Pat absolutely loved that.
His favorite past times were playing golf and watching NASCAR races. He also belonged to the Blue Moon gym and went every day for exercise and lifting weights.

OMAHA, NE ― Day 3 of the 2025 College World Series saw Coastal Carolina become the first team to punch its ticket to the semifinals. The Chanticleers rode a strong start from Jacob Morrison to a 6-2 win over Oregon State.
Meanwhile, Louisville stayed alive with an 8-3 win over Arizona in a game that was closer than it seemed, as the Cardinals scored six runs in the eighth inning after facing a 3-2 deficit.
Louisville will face the Beavers in an elimination game June 17 (2 p.m. ET), with the winner advancing to the semifinals and needing to beat Coastal Carolina twice.
Here were the winners and losers from Day 3 at Charles Schwab Field:
WINNERS
Small ball
There were three home runs hit during Day 3 in Omaha: one by Arizona and two for Oregon State. Both of those teams lost.
Louisville, which won the first game, had just one extra-base hit, a double. Coastal Carolina, the winner of the second game, had two doubles. The Chanticleers had two sacrifice bunts; Louisville had one sac and a bunt hit. The Cardinals also stole three bases and took advantage of errors.
Mid-majors
Unlike in basketball, where mid-major powerhouses often make the Final Four or even win titles, it's become increasingly difficult for mid-majors to do well in the College World Series.
Before Coastal Carolina's run, the last mid-major to compete in the semifinals in Omaha was also the Chanticleers in 2016, when they won the national title. Before that, the last teams to do it were Fresno State and San Diego in 2008, the former of which won the national title.
Paul Skenes
For a player who is notably playing in MLB currently and whose former team didn't play, Paul Skenes got some airtime on Day 3. First came the reports that Skenes, the former LSU pitcher and 2023 College World Series Most Outstanding Player, would be attending the Tigers' winners bracket game on June 16. Then, a graphic on the ESPN broadcast compared Coastal Carolina pitcher Jacob Morrison to Skenes. According to the graphic, those two pitchers had the most starts with six or more innings pitched and one or fewer runs allowed in the last five seasons.
Morrison pitched 7⅔ innings of one-run ball against Oregon State.

Defense
In the pitcher-friendly Charles Schwab Field, the impact of any defensive mistake is magnified. Oregon State and Arizona learned that lesson the hard way.
The Wildcats committed two errors and allowed four unearned runs amid a six-run eighth inning for Louisville. That included a throwing error by the shortstop on a routine play and the pitcher dropping the ball on a rundown at home plate.
The Beavers also allowed four unearned runs thanks to two different errors, one that allowed Caden Bodine to reach to lead off the game and a second when Bodine hit what should've been an inning-ending double play in the fourth inning, but the second baseman booted the ball, leading to one run, and another run scored on a wild pitch afterwards.
Hot mics
During the College World Series, umpires are mic'd up. That helps make calls more clear, but several players didn't realize the mics were on and were audibly heard shouting expletives after at-bats that didn't go their way.
The (former) Pac-12
The league formerly known as the Pac-12 made waves by getting three teams into Omaha, now in two different conferences and one independent, something that the actual Pac-12 hadn't done in decades. But one of those teams, Arizona, has already been eliminated, and Oregon State will face elimination after falling to Coastal Carolina. UCLA is in the winner's bracket, but will be a heavy underdog to LSU.

OMAHA, Neb. —
Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed to KETV Investigates that the man detained by ICE agents at an Early Bird restaurant in Omaha was in the country illegally.
On Tuesday, KETV Investigates obtained video showing a man being taken to the ground inside Early Bird's west Omaha location on June 1.
He is cuffed and later can be seen being escorted out of the restaurant.

On Wednesday, the assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security's public affairs told KETV Investigates that any allegations that the man was "wrongfully taken" by ICE are false.
In a statement, an ICE spokesperson told KETV that on June 1, special agents were in search of a "Guatemalan national with a final order of removal" in Omaha.
The special agents saw someone matching that description and followed him to the Early Bird location, where they attempted contact, officials said.
As the agents approached, that person fled into the restaurant and resisted arrest before being taken into custody, the ICE spokesperson said.
ICE confirmed that the employee seen in the video was in the country illegally from Guatemala, working under a fraudulent name and Social Security number.
Officials said the man, who is the 26-year-old brother of the original target and "closely resembles him," also had a prior immigration encounter in 2022 involving false documents.
An ICE spokesperson said a special agent sustained a minor injury during the pursuit.
Early Bird corporate posted on social media Tuesday, saying, "We had no involvement or knowledge of this incident prior to living it alongside our guests and staff."
"Due to the sensitive nature of this matter and out of respect for the individual's privacy and legal process, we will not be releasing any further details. We remain committed to creating a respectful, lawful, and inclusive work environment!"
While KETV has confirmed the man's identity, we are not releasing it at this time until the case against him moves forward.
The Hearst National Investigative Unit learned he's being held at the Pottawattamie County jail.
The attorney representing the man told KETV that he was scheduled to be deported Wednesday, but he was able to work with ICE attorneys to call off the flight.
